Position Summary:
The Web Editor is responsible for creating and managing engaging, informative, and accurate content for our organization's website. This role involves editing and curating articles, news stories, blog posts, and other written materials to ensure they meet high standards of quality, relevance, and readability. The Web Editor will collaborate closely with the editorial team to develop and execute content strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement content strategies to enhance the organization's online presence and engage the target audience effectively.
- Write, edit, and proofread articles, blog posts, press releases, and other web content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, research, and verify information for content creation.
- Conduct keyword research and optimize content for search engines to improve organic visibility and drive traffic to the website.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in web editing, digital media, and journalism to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of online content development.
- Source and curate relevant visual assets, such as images and videos, to accompany written content.
- Monitor and analyze website analytics to identify content performance and user engagement metrics, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure all content is compliant with legal and ethical guidelines, including copyright and plagiarism regulations.
- Collaborate with web developers, designers, and other stakeholders to enhance the website's user experience and interface.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice and style across all digital platforms.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Web Editor, Content Editor, or similar role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong understanding of web content management systems (CMS), HTML, and SEO best practices.
- Proficiency in using content publishing tools and platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to create, edit, and curate engaging and shareable content for web and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with digital journalism ethics, newsroom standards, and legal requirements.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret web analytics and engagement metrics.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
